Five short years ago, the notion of extracting corn oil from the production platform at corn ethanol plants was a novel and emerging technology. The industry identified this fraction as a potential source of revenue, but the pathways and downstream implications and opportunities were not well understood. Today, corn oil extraction is common practice in the industry and often buoys a plant’s bottom line in challenging economic conditions. This panel will examine each step of the corn oil pathway in turn. Beginning with extraction, this webinar will then turn its attention to downstream markets and the impact of extraction on ethanol’s co-product incumbent, distillers grains and solubles.
